J.S. BACH: St. John Passion
Composed for Good Friday Vespers in Leipzig in 1724, Bach’s St. John Passion is one of Bach’s most extravagant and dramatic masterworks, depicting the trial and execution of Jesus, drawing from the Gospel of John interspersed with arias and hymns.
Since their inception, a particular focus of the International Bach Academy Stuttgart Chorus and Orchestra has been the interpretation of the vocal works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The International Bach Academy Stuttgart Chorus and Orchestra have performed at numerous festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival and the Prague Spring International Music Festival.
