HOLST: The Planets

Join us for a family concert soaring across the solar system as we mark the centennial premiere of Gustav Holst's The Planets! Performed by the Philharmonic Society's very own Orange County Youth Symphony, this universal masterpiece is led by Elena Schwarz, visiting guest conductor and Dudamel Fellow from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Listen as the Symphony takes you on a musical journey depicting seven planets in our solar system, evoking Mars' ominous temper with rocky rhythms and pulsing drum beats, Jupiter's majestic tune with swelling brass and slow waltzing strings, and Venus' tranquil harmony complete with harps and flutes, shimmering strings, and otherworldly solo violin passages.

Pre-Concert Activities
Check out the lobby prior to the morning performance for hands-on activities, including a musical instrument petting zoo courtesy of the Philharmonic Society's Music Mobile, arts and crafts, demonstrations and more!
