VIVALDI: The Four Seasons

Led by violinist and music director Daniel Hope, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra performs Vivaldi’s classic The Four Seasons along with works from Hope's recent recording for Deutsche Grammophon, My Tribute to Yehudi Menuhin, which pays tribute to his dear friend, mentor and "musical grandfather." The program includes Mendelssohn’s early D minor Concerto, which Menuhin famously discovered in 1951, and Bach's brilliant Double Violin Concerto.

Founded in 1945 by Edmond de Stoutz, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra cultivates a broad repertoire, ranging from baroque to romantic to contemporary music. Hope was appointed Music Director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in 2016, succeeding Sir Roger Norrington.

British violinist Daniel Hope has toured the world as a virtuoso soloist for more than 25 years and is celebrated for his musical versatility as well as his dedication to humanitarian causes. Winner of the 2015 European Cultural Prize for Music, whose previous recipients include Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo and the Berlin Philharmonic, Hope is easily considered “among the best in the world as well as the most thoughtful” (London Observer).
