The 62-time Grammy-winning Chicago Symphony Orchestra returns to Orange County in a three-day music festival with revered conductor Riccardo Muti. The weekend opens with Mozart’s elegant, yet grand Violin Concerto No. 4 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 with its enormous dramatic impact and captivating beauty.

Celebrating its 130th season, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is consistently hailed as one of the world’s leading orchestras. Named 2010 Musician of the Year by Musical America, conductor Riccardo Muti’s commitment to artistic excellence continues to bring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to even higher levels of achievement and renown.

One of the preeminent conductors of our day, Muti first came to international attention in 1967, when he was unanimously awarded first place at the Guido Cantelli Competition for conductors in Milan. Since then, he has built at 40 year career serving as music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra as well as music director of the Teatro alla Scala.
